BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina offers the BlueExtend℠ plan to provide coverage for individuals and families in select counties. This plan complies with the Affordable Care Act. However, it is separate from our historical and broader BlueCross individual health insurance exchange preferred provider network.

Members with the BlueExtend plan have access to the BlueCard Program when traveling outside of South Carolina but must use a network participating provider (PPO).

While receiving care in South Carolina, members must use providers participating in the BlueEssentials network.
